Uttara Kannada; Continued rain 14 Care center set up
It is also raining heavily till Saturday evening across Uttara Kannada district. People's lives were disrupted in parts of Kumata and Honnavar and extensive damage was done.
In the last 24 hours, 47 houses were partially damaged and 6 houses were completely damaged in the district. One death occurred in neighboring Siddapur. A total of 14 care centers have been opened today in Honnavar and Kumta talukas due to continuous rains. District Disaster Management Center informed that 334 members of 162 families have taken shelter in these care centers.
Gundbala river in Honnavar has flooded and nearby villages are inundated. People have been moved to a safer place.
National Highway-69 near Sulemurki Cross near Gerusoppa near Honnavar has lost road connectivity due to a landslide. Half of the road has also collapsed due to the collapse of the hill below the road. Due to this, the travel route from Honnavar to Gerusoppa to Siddapur, Talaguppa has been reduced.
Road traffic is prohibited from Gerusoppa village to Mavigundi village in Siddapur taluk. The district administration informed that the vehicles going towards Siddapur, Joga and Sagar from Honnavar can proceed to Siddapur via Kumata-Santeguli route.
